Renewal

Let us, then, be up and doing with a heart for any fate; still achieving, still pursuing, learn to labor and to wait....Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Within these few words is the secret to achieving what we all want out of life. These words apply to a community too. We must renew daily again and again and forever again!

Hang on to your Map

In pursuit of driving in the city you can be in for a crazy ride! To get to the West Bank, you can either head due east on the Mississippi River Bridge or south on the Jackson Street ferry. To get to the Northshore, take I-10 east. North Claiborne goes northeast for a few blocks, then turns due east and finally continues to the southeast. South Claiborne Avenue, on the other hand heads mainly northwest. The source of confusion is the Mississippi River. Streets that follow the turns of the Mighty Mississippi make normal directions sound like Greek. Locals say "towards the lake" or "towards the river". Uptown is above Canal Street and Downtown is below Canal Street. Try reading street signs or just go with the flow!

P.S. Potholes are everywhere......you gotta love it.....It is New Orleans!

Gumbo Pot

Gumbo is often the main course at lunch or dinner....a perfect place to go is "The Gumbo Shop". This creole hot spot is located at 630 St. Peter....fuel your body with Gumbo, New Orleans style...it is the greatest of the city's food.
